Making coffee with a French Press is not only easy, but will produce a cup coffee that is far superior to any k-cup machine. If you were not aware of it then give it a try for yourself using fresh ground coffee such as SOZO Coffee Roasters.
The tools are basic and the process is simple.
Getting started:
- French Press Coffee Maker
- Fresh Ground Coffee
- Grinder (unless beans are already ground)
- Hot Water
- Timer (can use iPhone)
Step 1. If using whole beans and a grinder then grind the beans to a very course grind.
Step 2. For a 4 cup French Press measure out 4-5 tablespoons of ground coffee, and
Step 3. Add water that is approxiamtely 202 degrees F. Easiest way to accomplish this is to bring a pot of water to a boil and the let sit for 30 seconds.
Step 4. Pour hot water into the Fresh Press and wait for 4 minutes. Make some toast while you wait.
Step 5. Press, Pour and Enjoy some great tasting coffee!
If that wasn’t simple enough then back to the pods for you.
Few helpful tips:
- Don’t throw the grinds down the drain unless you have a good plumber from Angie’s List
- Keep coffee warm by immediately pouring the coffee into a quality carafe.
